SUBJECT:    Withdrawal of Proposed Department of Education Chapter 101 – Maine Unified Special Education Regulation

            The Department of Education has withdrawn the proposed rule, Chapter 101:  Maine Unified Special Education Regulation from the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) process, effective immediately.

            The Department will re-initiate rulemaking this Fall, as we are required to have state policies and procedures in place to comport with the Federal statute IDEA 2004 by June 30, 2007, pursuant to our federal grants.
