ADMINISTRATIVE LETTER: 25 TO: Superintendents of Schools FROM: Susan A. Gendron, Commissioner DATE: April 17, 2007 RE: Updated Proposed General Purpose Aid for Local Schools (GPA) Funding for FY 2007-08 As indicated in Administrative Letter #24 (April 9, 2007) and as a result of revisions to the Governor’s budget based on the lowered revenue forecast for FY 2007 and FY 2008, the proposed General Purpose Aid for Local Schools (GPA) Funding for FY 2007-08 is at the Scenario B level described in Administrative Letter #23 (March 27, 2007). For your budget preparations, we have updated the proposed Scenario B amounts and included additional information on Scenario B. The updated Scenario B information is posted on the following Department of Education’s website: http://www.maine.gov/education/data/eps/fy08/eps0708.htm The preliminary amounts posted for the FY2007-08 year do not represent final action of the legislature. Also, included on the above website is a “100% EPS Template” that will assist you in determining whether or not your unit’s 2007-08 budget will exceed 100% of Essential Programs and Services. School administrative unit 2007-08 budgets and warrant articles should be based on 20-MRSA Section 15690. Please refer to Administrative Letter #20, “2007-08 Budget Reporting” (February 13, 2007) for procedures in reporting your unit’s 2007-08 budget information – available at the website below:
