RE:                National School Nurse Day

The National Association of School Nurses has proclaimed May 10, 2006, as National School Nurse Day.  School nurses play a significant role in improving the health and well-being of students.  The practice of school nursing impacts the academic success of students by helping to prevent illness and accidents and by keeping students in school who might otherwise be sent home.  School nurses help to manage students with chronic illness so that they can safely remain in the classroom.

School Nurse Day is an opportunity to celebrate the vital work of school nurses across our State.

Please contact DeEtte Hall, School Nurse Consultant (624-6688 or deette.hall@maine.gov) with any questions.
