RE:                   State Contracts – Withdrawal of Informational Letter 62

            The Division of Purchases has asked us to withdraw Informational Letter 62.    

            Information received since Informational Letter 62 was issued reveals that, in response to a request from a municipal school system, a consultant developed a comparison of the cost of leasing photocopiers under the State’s open contract and the cost of leasing photocopiers through his company. The requesting school system was seeking a cost comparison for a 5 year lease if a 5 year lease were available under the State’s contract.  The information used by the consultant to develop the cost comparison was provided by the State’s contractor.  For the purposes of this comparison the costs set forth in the document prepared by the consultant and made available to the Division of Purchases were correct.  The document shows that the rates being offered by the consultant were lower than under the State’s contract.  The Division of Purchases apologizes for any misunderstanding as a result of Informational Letter 62.
