RE:                  Accountability Event –Part 3

The Maine Department of Education presents

Rethinking Accountability:   Building State and Local Capacity for Achieving Maine’s Educational Vision

Part 3: Self Assessment and Action Planning

The objective of Part 3: Self Assessment and Action Planning is to assist district teams in building a cohesive system of accountability that incorporates curriculum, instruction, assessment, reporting and student interventions.   Among the most common challenges in implementing standards-based educational systems is the critical need to build an integrated, coherent set of practices to support student learning.   This session will assist district teams in reaching this important goal.

This session will guide participants through an analysis of district strengths and weaknesses, then focus on developing an action plan building on existing strengths to address areas of need.   Department staff and representatives of school districts will be available to share successful strategies.

Attendance at Rethinking Accountability, Parts 1 and 2 is not required for participation in this session.   Information from Part 1 and 2 will be posted on our NCLB website by March 1, 2005.

If you are interested in sending a team, please contact Rachelle Tome at 624-6705 or rachelle.tome@maine.gov
