RE:                   Student Art Exhibits

Since February of 2003, the Maine Department of Education has been fortunate to host rotating student art exhibits.   These exhibits celebrate the high quality of Maine student work and the teachers and programs that support them.   They also brighten our workspace.   Student artwork is also enjoyed by the many visitors to the Department, which include the Governor, members of the Legislature, employees of other State Departments and the general public.

These exhibits change every six weeks and include a minimum of 24 pieces of work.   Wall mounted exhibit frames are located in the reception area and on permanent walls in other high traffic areas.   We have been delighted to display student art from all grade levels, K-12, including oil, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, cutwork, aluminum tooling, paper collage, tempera and linoleum prints.

Please consider submitting your students’ artwork for display in the Maine Department of Education for the school year 2005-2006.   The attached Exhibition Guidelines spreadsheet sets forth specifications and includes the schedule.    If you are interested in displaying your student artwork, please contact Elaine Briggs at 624-6711 or email

Thank you for continuing to support young artists in Maine.
