RE:                  Keeping Maine’s Children Connected

In April and May a letter from the Children’s Cabinet, which described the initiative “Keeping Maine’s Children Connected,” was posted on the Department’s website.  This letter is available at http://www.maine.gov/education/edletrs/2004/KMCCLetter.htm You may not have seen the attachments, which were posted separately.  A new attachment has been added which provides a summary of the purpose of this initiative and the goals to be achieved through this initiative.

The letter described the initiative and requested that you appoint an appropriate individual from your agency to serve as the primary liaison for this effort.  An updated form is attached for you to complete and return with the name and necessary information regarding this appointment.  You can return the form either electronically to chris.bartlett@maine.gov or to her by mail at Office of Special Services, ATTN:  Christine Bartlett, 23 SHS, Augusta, ME  04333.  Also attached to the posted letter is a description of the role of the liaison, to assist you in determining who would be the best individual within your agency to appoint to this position.

If you have not already sent in the attached form, please plan to return it no later than June 30, 2004.  We would like to use the summer to get the contact information entered in order to make it available through the Department of Education website no later than August 31, 2004.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of the individuals listed on the contact sheet also included as part of the attachments to the original letter.
