RE:                  Student Information System Vendors

The federal No Child Left Behind Act requires the Maine Department of Education to collect and store student information.  The system being designed is known as the Maine Education Data Management System (MEDMS).

The intent of the system designers is to reduce redundant data entry by interfacing with your existing Student Information System (SIS), for those of you who are currently using a SIS.   In order to facilitate the transfer of the required data from schools to MEDMS, we need to know which vendor supplies your SIS software.  The Department has already started a dialog with several of the most popular vendors to make them aware of the new No Child Left Behind Act requirements and the need to build interfaces between their products and MEDMS.  It is imperative that we get an accurate list of vendors and the Maine schools that are using their systems.

A web form is available at for you to enter information about your SIS vendor. Please take a few minutes to fill out this form as soon as possible. The timeline for collecting this information is short.

The information that you provide is critical to both the success of MEDMS and to your success in meeting the reporting requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act.  If you do not currently use student information system software please complete the form anyway.  We need to be able to collect this data from all schools.
