RE: Non-public school
participation in No Child Left Behind Act Title II, Part A
New information has been released from
the U.S. Department of Education regarding the allocation to non-public
schools. This change is retroactive to
July, 2002, and it requires that you provide an update to your 2002-2003
Consolidated No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act application. Please complete and submit the attached
form.
A non-public school within a local
educational agency is entitled to services under Title II, Part A. The amount of those services is the amount
the non-public school was allocated under the Improving America’s Schools
Act Title II Eisenhower program for 2001-2002 plus the amount allocated for
professional development under the Class Size Reduction program. The amount for services that each non-public
school is allocated under NCLB is listed on the attached spreadsheet.
The services to be provided by this
amount are to be agreed upon at a consultation meeting or joint planning
sessions between the public school system and the participating non-public
schools. A representative of the
non-public schools must sign the appropriate form in the consolidated
application.
If a non-public school refuses these
funds, they revert to the public school system.
