RE: Conflict Resolution/Character Education Grant Application
The Maine Department of Education is pleased to announce the availability of grants to encourage the development, improvement or continuation of conflict resolution and character education in the public elementary and secondary schools. The grants provide funding for one year, in an amount ranging from $3,000 - $10,000. These grants are made available to schools through funding from a recent appropriation to the Maine Department of Education for conflict resolution education, and from the Department’s Character Education Partnership grant from the United States Department of Education.
This project will allow schools to secure valuable resources and technical assistance to institute or develop conflict resolution, and character education programs which will enhance student well-being, student learning, and school climate.

Please note that it must be postmarked no later than May 20, 2001.

$35,000.00 of the amount distributed under this grant program is from Maine’s Year One grant from the United States Department of Education for the Character Education Partnership.
