SUBJECT:    Advanced Placement Incentive Program Application (APIP)


            Enclosed is the application to apply for Advanced Placement Incentive Program funds. This project, funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, is intended to increase the participation of low-income students in Advanced Placement (AP) courses and expand the offerings of AP courses for low-income students.  This application provides funds for teachers and high schools to address the goals and objectives listed in the application.


Funding will be provided for specific activities and will be available as long as funds remain.  Some professional development funds will be held until spring to support June 2001 institutes.  More than one application may be submitted during the year as long as they are for separate activities.  All applications must identify the percentage of low-income students to be assisted. Low-income students must make up at least 20 percent or an increase of 10% over last year’s enrollment in AP course during 2000-2001 for existing classes.  Specific requirements and expectations are outlined in the enclosed application.  All applications are due at least six (6) weeks prior to the activity to allow for approval and processing.
