SUBJECT: Temporary Interim Instructional Space and Administrative
Leased Space.
1. Applications for the renewal of
Temporary Interim Instructional Space are due October 15, 2000.
The 2000-2001 application forms can be found at: http://janus.maine.gov/education/const/lease.htm If you are not able to download the form
please contact Michael Kucsma at (207)
287-8526. In completing the form
(EF-B-56T) please refer to your approved 1999-2000 application for the
appropriate lease number (Line 5).
Applications for NEW Temporary Interim
Instructional Space must also include
Appendix G. Given the direction
of the Leased Space Program as outlined in Chapter 064 Maine School Facilities
and Revolving Renovation Fund, Section 3, the Department encourages SAU’s who identify needs for new Temporary Interim
Instructional Space to contact the
Department early in your planning process. This will help insure compliance with Rules and eligibility for

2. Questions have come up regarding the definition of
“portable, temporary classroom space”.
20-A 15603 (8) E states: “means
a project consisting of one or more mobile or modular buildings that are a
least partially constructed off site and are designed to be moved to other
sites with a minimum of disassembly and reassembly.”
3. Applications for lease of Administrative Space were
due at the Department July 15, 2000.
For those who have not submitted a renewal application please submit it
to the Department by October 15, 2000 for consideration.
4. 20-A 15603 (8) addresses the duration for support of
Administrative Leases:
Subsidy support for
Administrative Leased Space will not be paid after July 1,2003.
Subsidy support for Administrative Space
lease-purchase/conversions will not be paid after July 1, 2008.
SAU’s can continue to lease
or lease purchase administrative space after these dates but will not receive
state subsidy.
