DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOOLS IN MAINE

There are 833 schools in Maine--715 public and 118 private.  According to Maine Statute an Elementary school means that portion of a school that provides instruction in any combination of kindergarten through grade 8.  A Secondary school means that portion of a school that provides instruction in any combination of grades 9 through 12.  Listed below are totals in a variety of grade combinations that are commonly requested by the general public.  Note a school may be included in more than one grade combination.
