Maine's Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan or SCORP

<<FINAL VERSION NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD - SEE BELOW>>

What is SCORP?

The Maine State Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) process and ultimately the final approved plan qualify Maine to receive federal Land and Water Conservation Funds.  Additionally, the Maine SCORP satisfies state legislative requirements and helps guide Bureau decision making.

Maine’s SCORP identifies the demand for and supply of outdoor recreation areas and facilities based on available information, and discusses outdoor recreation issues of statewide importance based on public and focus group comment. The plan’s Implementation Program suggests broad priorities for expenditure of LWCF dollars in Maine.

Public Input

The knowledge and input of a variety of Maine groups and citizens has enhanced the 2009-2014 Maine SCORP. All who participated in and commented on the 2009-2014 SCORP are greatly appreciated.  A summary of the public input process is available for download.

What's Next?

The final plan will be submitted to the National Park Sevice for full review (a preliminary review has already taken place).  Once formally approved, the new, 2009-2014 Maine SCORP will serve as the guiding document for Land and Water Conservation Fund stateside projects in Maine.
