Archaeologists Make New Discoveries at Pemaquid

This summer, archaeologists have been exploring two areas of Colonial Pemaquid. The first is in advance of a project to stabilize the eroding shoreline and a second in the area of land purchased this past year and added to the site. Two previously unknown cellar holes were discovered along with hundreds of artifacts. One of the foundations is likely from a dwelling burned by Native Americans in 1676. A report on the dig will be available later this year.
