Underground Storage Tank Installer and Inspector Examinations

The Board of Underground Storage Tank Installers has scheduled the examinations listed below for Friday, February 10, 2017. The examinations will begin at 9:00 am at the Department of Marine Resources, 32 Blossom Lane, Marquardt Building, Conference Room 118; Augusta, Maine. Underground Storage Tank Installer Initial or Final Examinations:

If you are interested in taking the Underground Storage Tank Installer Initial examination, please remit a check or money order for $200.00. If you are taking the Underground Storage Tank Installer Final examination, the fee is $250.00. If you are retaking either examination, the fee is $100.00. The Initial examination has 100 multiple choice questions and there is no time limit. The Final has 125 multiple choice questions and you have three (3) hours to complete the examination. The passing score for both examinations is 80%.

Underground Storage Tank Inspector Examination:

If you are interested in taking the underground storage tank inspector examination, please remit a check or money order for $250.00. If you are retaking the examination, the fee is $100.00. The examination is open book and consists of 104 multiple choice questions. You have two and one half (2½) hours to complete the examination. The passing score for the examination is 80%. You may bring and use electronic calculators, but you may not bring computers, laptops; PDA?s such as smart phones, tablets or the equivalent.

Please bring the entire study guide and reference materials that were provided to you. Since the examination is open book, you may use the reference materials, PEI RP 100 and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection Chapter 691; Rules for Underground Oil Storage Facilities guide for the examination. We will collect and hold the actual study guide (blue cover stock) while you take the examination. Please write your name on your copy of the study guide so we can return your copy at the end of the examination.
