Erosion Control Re-Certification and Update Course

This course is intended as the basic recertification course for DEP erosion control certified individuals seeking re-certification credits or reinstatement of an expired certification. In this four (4)-hour course, participants will receive a refresher on the basic tools used for erosion & sedimentation control; receive updates on changes to regulations and rules pertaining to natural resources and development; and be introduced to advanced topics for working in and near the water such as shoreline stabilization and land use best practices for shorefront work using Maine DEP's Erosion and Sediment Control Practices Field Guide for Contractors and OUR SHORE Reference Guide to Shoreline Stabilization in Maine.
This course qualifies for 4 Continuing Education Hours for individuals currently Certified in Erosion and Sediment Control by Maine DEP, or within the 6-month grace period. For individuals with certifications expired more than 6 months but less than 5 years, this course will allow for reinstatement of the expired certification and add two years beyond the current year.
