New Smokey Fire Danger Sign installed at Yarmouth Visitor?s Center

May 6, 2014

A new Smokey Bear fire danger sign has been installed at the Maine Visitor?s Center in Yarmouth, off I-295 (just south of Freeport). The sign is similar to the one installed at the Maine Visitor?s Center in Kittery in 2012. It was purchased by the Maine Forest Service Forest Protection Division and installed by the Maine Department of Transportation. The Maine Office of Tourism, who initiated the project, has volunteered to keep the class day current on the fire danger sign. To learn what the wildfire danger rating is in your area, go to http://maine.gov/dacf/mfs/wildfire_danger_report/index.html

Visitors are encouraged to take their picture with Smokey Bear. As Smokey says, ?Only you can prevent wildfires.? For more information on Smokey Bear, please visit www.Smokeybear.com .
