Woodland Stewardship Tour: Learn How to Plant a Tree - Belfast

Waldo County Soil & Water Conservation District and Maine Forest Service?s series of short field tours highlighting forest stewardship and conservation continues.

Thursday, May 24th, 3:00-5:00 p.m. Tree Planting ? This Arbor Week, visit the Belfast City Park and Arboretum in one of its best seasons ? and learn about tree planting. We?ll talk about and demonstrate selection and different methods of planting trees ? from small seedlings to balled/burlapped ornamental trees. We?ll have two saplings on hand to plant. Participants will also take home a small seedling to plant. Meet at Belfast City Park on Northport Avenue.

These workshops are open to the general public, as well as landowners, foresters, loggers, and others interested in the stewardship of trees and woodlands. They offer a brief, two-hour opportunity for observation, questions, and discussion.

This event is free and open to the public, and involves walking outdoors, and will occur rain, snow, or shine. Please dress for field conditions.
