7 Lakes Alliance is hosting Beginning with Habitat Climate Coordinator Corinne Michaud-LeBlanc for a presentation on understanding the unique natural resources in the Belgrade Lakes Region, climate change impacts, and strategies for a healthy, resilient, and connected watershed. Join Kennebec Land Trust and MDIFW Private Lands Biologist Joe Roy to learn more about wildlife habitat, and strategies to improve the landscape to benefit wildlife. Joe is a part of the Beginning with Habitat program at MDIFW which provides landowners, land trust, and municipalities with technical assistance relating to wildlife habitat.

Corinne Michaud-LeBlanc, Climate Coordinator for Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife's Beginning with Habitat program will provide an overview of conservation planning tools and strategies for a changing climate, and suggestions for how to use them. This presentation will highlight salt marsh ecosystems and salt marsh sparrows. Pete Slovinsky, Marine Geologist with Maine Geological Survey, will discuss how climate change is impacting vulnerable dune habitat in the state, and recommend conservation actions for communities with this habitat.

These virtual Casco Bay Coastal Academy (CBCA) workshops are brought to you by Casco Bay Estuary Partnership, Maine Sea Grant, and R1CC. CBCA aims to build the knowledge base of municipal board members and staff about critical coastal issues and provide skills training to support their project planning and implementation. The workshops are especially targeted to municipal staff, volunteer committee members, community leaders, and organizations providing services to municipalities. Everyone is welcome!
