Military Veteran Career Transition Pilot Program

Department of Economic and Community Development

Allocation: $200,000

Status: Active

Military veterans bring years of work experience that can be successfully transferred to civilian careers in Maine's most in-demand sectors. Hiring returning service members can also help Maine businesses address workforce shortages exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Economic and Community Development, in collaboration with the Bureau of Veterans Services, will partner with military personnel assistance organizations to participate in a one-year pilot project aimed at providing employment opportunities in Maine industries that have been negatively impacted by the pandemic for military personnel transitioning from service. This program will provide outreach to bring these families to Maine, connect them to the available jobs, provide them with interview coaching, resume building and other retraining, as well as connect them to other veterans and the services needed in their new communities to be successful as employees and community members.
