More Funding Details
Training For ME funding partners include:
- Tuition remission (Maine Department of Labor): A total of $7 M available to provide healthcare employers with funding support to upskill their incumbent patient-facing healthcare workers—with a focus on paying for short-term credentials to advance critical entry-level workers to the next stage in their career.
- The Maine Community College System through the Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine’s Workforce will provide training to help the unemployed and under-employed find employment to meet career and personal goals and enroll incumbent workers in college courses to put them on a path to earning a college degree. MCCS invites businesses and associations to become Compact Members.
Training For ME funding is primarily intended to support short & mid-term training that leads to credentials:
- For longer-term programs (such as nursing):
- Loan repayment options are available through HRSA and FAME

- Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs- York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Waldo, Knox Counties
- Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs- Androscoggin, Franklin, Hancock, Kennebec, Oxford, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset and Washington Counties
- Competitive Skills Scholarship Program (CSSP)
- Vocational Rehabilitation
- Higher Opportunity for Pathways to Employment (HOPE)
Training For ME funding is primarily intended to support tuition/course fees/books
- Additional programs can offer additional supports to allow you to fully participate in training (e.g. equipment, stipends or resources related to childcare or transportation). Eligibility for these supportive programs can include income/benefit recipiency, current work status, barriers to employment or other factors.
