Agenda Item Discussion Follow up Meeting opening Jen McKenna called the meeting to order; introductions were made.
October 2018 minutes Jen McKenna: motion to accept the minutes. Dawn Croteau seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous to approve. New Business Review of Biennial Plan Positives: Experiencing increased demand from sponsors and job seekers BES staff and workforce partners are increasingly more fluent in apprenticeship Training presented at State Team meetings and bi-weekly BES business outreach team meetings Outreach has been extremely successful Negatives: Expanding outreach means expanding capacity;
Derek's position was grant funded; two BES staff will temporarily fill his role through February. Outreach contract with Broadreach Public Relations is ending February 28, 2019.

New business Upcoming Legislative Meeting Friday, January 18, 2019

Jen McKenna, Joan Dolan and Labor Commissioner Fortman are scheduled to meet Friday, January 18, 2019, with the office of the Maine Speaker of the House, Sara Gideon. Saras platform states that "...access to robust and relevant training programs that result in lifelong skills and credentials must be matched to in-demand jobs" thus creating an opportunity to advance apprenticeship.

USDOL/Lee can provide staff training

OLD Business ESAC Planning Jen McKenna and Joan Dolan provided an ESAC update and reviewed the conference call held on January 7, 2019 Maine will have an influence over presenters and workshops Planning is ahead of schedule Conference dates: May 20-24, 2019 Schedule highlights: Day 1: hoping to include charity golf tournament Day 2: Senator Angus King invited as key note. Also scheduled: Jose Velazquez,
Deputy Administrator for Operations and Regional Management. Jose has responsibility over 101 personnel throughout six apprenticeship regions; Portland Mayor, Ethan Strimling will do the welcome and Commissioner Fortman will provide remarks. o Workshops overseen by Maine: Wednesday, May 22, 2019

Recap of Sponsor Recognition Events MAP participated in 7 events promoting either apprentice or sponsors from October -December 2018 including, Three statewide Sponsor recognition events were held one in each workforce area Well received by those able to attend; all sponsors received Certificate of Recognition for 2018 Joan participated in multiple media events including radio interviews, tv reports and social media posts

Director Report Joan Dolan updated Council on Apprenticeship statistics For calendar year 2018: 1,153 total apprentices served 693 apprentices currently active 348 new apprentices registered 41 Certificates Issued 29 Sponsors monitored 21 new sponsors and six new occupations added

Reports USDOL is funded and working but is slowed down by other closures

IRAP regulations will be released in the fall

Havent received direction on how proposed funding will be released or how it will be spent

Formula funding is being explored

Upcoming Meeting Schedule 2019 Meetings: 9:00am -11:30 am
