Since there was low attendance, we decided to have an informal meeting. The 06/15/17 meeting minutes are tabled until our next meeting in January however; I asked members if there are any errors, please highlight in yellow and forward back to me. Auta Main, Veterans Program Manager was invited to present a PowerPoint presentation explaining how to move from idea to success as she did with the Hire-A-Vet-Campaign but we rescheduled her to attend our next meeting in January due to low attendance. SWB/WIOA Updates ? Cheryl reported that the SWB still has no information in reference to the WIOA Title 1B funding but will make sure members will be informed accordingly. 2018 meeting dates ? Cheryl stated she has reserved all the sub-committees meeting dates for 2018 and will forward to members after the Thanksgiving holiday. Member updates ? Janie Small Janie reported that she has had a lot of exits in youth: ? 3 Nurses ? starting salaries $28, $29 and $32 per hour ? Boiler Operator ? (went to Maine Maritime Academy) employed at $18 per hour ? Arborist - $18 per hour She mostly will enroll her youth in 4-year trainings because she believes this is the path to success. She also stated she has a lot of youth that currently are in school. A big item that she reported was that this year, she helped her young adults apply for over $800,000 in scholarships. Ginny requested Janie to do a write up and forward to her so she can forward to Jeremy at USDOL. Janie mentioned that she had a youth that she was working with that was not taught cursive writing in school and when he saw it, he stated that he could not read it as if it was a foreign language. Ginny recommended Janie to bring this back to DOE because this could present a major barrier. Michael Jordan Michael reported that he has a WIOA Youth caseload of 50 and that CSSP has helped with some of the supportive services because of what?s happening with the WIOA Title 1B funding. He stated that he was pleased how the CareerCenter with the CSSP funds have stepped up and tried to help. In Presque Isle, they had a ACAP Telefon and received a $48,000 donation to assist the local area folks with fuel in their homes. Juvenile Justice Attention Initiative which is a National program to try to prevent youth with misdemeanors going to a detention. They are trying to get this to be a statewide effort. He has received 5 referrals from this program. CIRCLE ? this program has to do with the Tribe from Aroostook County where they can earn money and pay restitution to any damage they have done to a home. Michael stated they are trying to bridge this program with WIOA to put them on the right track. WANTO ? this program is just getting started. It will involve 3 counties, Aroostook, Washington and Hancock. There will be a counselor in each county with a Director, Kathy Williams. This program is dealing with apprenticeship and non-traditional occupations for women. Next year they will be trying to serve 100 women and be placed in non-traditional occupations. This program can serve both youth and adults.

Tammy Richardson Tammy stated that she has nothing to report because of what is going on with the WIOA funding. She does have some youth going to college and doing well.

Ginny Carroll Ginny stated that they just sent out a copy of the Non-Discrimination and Accessibility Policy. She stated that they will be trying to talk to the Partners about this Policy.
