Division of Corporations, UCC & Commissions
NOTICE: In observance of Memorial Day, the Division of Corporations, UCC & Commissions will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2013.
Boards and Commissions
The Division administers the Boards and Commissions program area for the Bureau. Title 5 Ch. 379 is a general statute dealing with boards and commissions. It lays out standards for board creation, membership and compensation, and lists boards by name in several master list categories. It assigns to the Secretary of State a number of record-keeping and reporting functions: managing appointment information, material and paperwork; tracking membership; reporting annually on upcoming appointments or re-appointments to boards; maintaining and collecting board activities and expenses required on annual reports; compiling and reporting the results into an annual report that is submitted to the Governor and Legislature; and preparing legislation to repeal inactive boards.
Not all boards file with our office.
There are a few boards created by statute that are not among those in the Title 5, Chapter 379 master lists. Additionally, short term task forces or commissions, often created by the Legislature for a specific purpose, are not added to the master lists.
