Week of November 23, 2009...

Make a floor plan of your home ...

  • Identify safe places to go in case of fire, hurricane or flood
  • Practice a fire drill

Check your cupboards. Do you have these items? If not, pick them up at the grocery store this week.

  • 1 gallon water (one for each member of the family)
  • 1 can of meat, fruit and vegetables each for each family member (remember special foods for special diets, if needed)
  • 2 rolls of toilet paper
  • Extra toothbrush
  • Travel size toothpaste

Where does your water come from?

November 9, 2009

If you have a private well, when your power goes out the pump will too. How will you get water for drinking, and for sanitation? If you get water from a utility, how will they let you know if they are having problems, or if you should boil the water? Answer these questions, and you'll have a piece of your emergency plan.
