Farmington Flooding, December 2003

In this flood-prone area of downtown Farmington, known as the Intervale, the Sandy River reacted to ice jams and December rains by backing up and flooding a University of Maine parking lot.

But a parking lot full of cars belonging to University of Maine students was not so lucky For every vehicle there is an owner. UMF has many students who commute to school. Loss of their vehicles was a devastating loss indeed. The University generously worked with the students to help them "get back on their wheels."
