About Rep. Carter

Rep. Timothy Carter is serving his first term in the House of Representatives. He has been appointed to the Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry.

As a sixth-generation farmer and a certified tree farmer, Rep. Carter brings years of invaluable experience in farming and forestry to the House and his committee. Rep. Carter graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in agricultural sciences. He spent two years in the U.S. Army. For several years, Rep. Carter operated his family’s farm in Bethel before turning it over to his son, John, in 1994. From 1994 to 2001, he served as the Northeast Area Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Rep. Carter lives in Bethel with his wife of 40 years, Jodi. Outside of the State House, Rep. Carter harvests timber from his tree farm and helps his son, John, on their multi-generation farm.
