Representative Stanley B. Short, Jr.

District #106

PO Box 103, Pittsfield, ME 04967

Rep. Stanley B. Short Jr. is a lifelong Mainer of Irish descent who has a broad business background in the fundamental industries in the State of Maine that includes the perspectives of the union, management and business owners. Stanley is a retired certified pipe welder and labor representative and is serving his second term in the House of Representatives, where he aims to bring jobs to the state and support Maine’s hardworking people.

Stanley is proud to serve on the Legislature’s Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee. He believes the work of the committee will have a positive effect on the well-being of the State of Maine and its people by promoting the outdoor economy and protecting natural resources so hunting and fishing opportunities will be available to future generations.

He is an avid bird hunter and bird dog trainer and enjoys freshwater fishing throughout the State of Maine and beyond. Stanley was instrumental in the birth of the Central Maine Brittany Club and was elected and served a term as its president. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, Stanley traveled throughout New England and successfully participated in Bird Dog Field Trials.

Stanley’s hobbies include reading about politics and political figures from all over the world, metal art and bird hunting with his German Shorthair, Maggie.

Stanley married Debora Hapworth in November 1972 at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Waterville, where they continue to worship to this day. They raised two children, Derek and Gillian, and have been blessed with five grandchildren. Stanley and Debora remain happily married after more than 40 years. Stanley and Debora have a shared love of working on their old farmhouse in Pittsfield and are very proud of what they have accomplished together in that effort.
