Representative Matthew J. Peterson
Rep. Matt Peterson is serving his fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives. He is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services and the Joint Standing Committee on Government Oversight. He has focused on a wide range of initiatives, including a major redesign of Maine’s long-term care system, initiatives to reintroduce and regulate professional combat sporting events (mixed martial arts and boxing), and investments to strengthen Maine’s maple products industry.
Peterson is a proud fourth generation resident of Rumford in the Western Maine mountains. He is a product of Maine schools in the River Valley as well as the University of Maine system, having attended both UMO and USM.
Peterson is employed at Alpha One, Maine’s Center for Independent Living. As a manager of programs for citizens with a disability, he travels the state working with individuals, families and providers to promote independent living and cost-effective solutions that encourage community participation and productivity.
Peterson lives in Rumford with his fiancé, Kristie.
