Issues
I am dedicated to protecting Maine’s working waterfront by
ensuring that the state continues to protect the health of our fisheries
and marine-related industries. Property tax reform is one piece
of this strategy. As sponsor of the Maine Land Bank Bill, I am encouraged
that it was carried over for further debate during the second session
of the 121st Legislature. This model would allow all citizens a
vehicle to maintain realistic property tax values on their land. I am also following an amendment to Governor Baldacci’s Dirigo
Health initiative that will study the most efficient means of delivering
health care to veterans in Maine.

An Act To Preserve Maine's Working Waterfront. LD
1972.
Maine Land Bank Bill
Carried over to the second session of the 121st Legislature, I am
proud to have sponsored LD
951 which would create a vehicle for Maine citizens to stabilize
their property valuation if they plan to own their home for a long
time and pass ownership on to a family member.
Preserving Maine’s Lobster Industry
As a member of the Marine Resources Committee, I am proud that we
were able to maintain the status quo on Maine’s lobster zone
system. I believe in the local control it provides.
