Legislation

I was proud to sponsor LD 240, An Act to Ensure that Maine's Unemployment System is Responsive to the Needs of Today's Workforce, a bill that allows part-time workers to be eligible for unemployment benefits. This is especially important for elderly people and others who face serious economic hardship when they lose their part-time jobs and have not been eligible until now for unemployment compensation. The law goes into effect Jan. 1, 2004.
