About Rep. Eberle

Representative Jane Eberle is serving her second term in the House of Representatives. She continues to sit on the Natural Resources Committee and also has been appointed to the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee.

Representative Eberle is a long-time, dedicated and involved member of the South Portland and Cape Elizabeth community. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of New Hampshire and currently serves as the South Portland School Department’s director of business partnerships. She taught exercise classes for Cape Elizabeth Community Services’ Body Dynamics program for 10 years.

Eberle has more than 20 years of experience in community activism and volunteering in schools. She chaired school improvement teams, was president of Dyer Elementary School PTA and Memorial Middle School PTA, headed high school booster groups, and organized volunteer programs at all grade levels. She is a staunch advocate for natural resource and education issues, and has served on many boards and committees that benefit the quality of our schools and environment at both the state and local levels.

Eberle was a member of the board of directors for the Maine State PTA, the Natural Resources Council of Maine, the Belgrade Lakes Conservation Corps (of which she is a founding member), the Spring Point Museum, and was president of the Greater Portland area “Dollars for Scholars” chapter.

She currently serves on the boards of the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Community Chamber, the South Portland Waterfront Market Association, the Belgrade Lakes Association, and the Belgrade Regional Conservation Alliance. She also serves on advisory boards for the Southern Maine Community College Service Learning Program, the WGME 13 Giving Maine Promise program, and the Greater Portland Mentoring Program. She was co-recipient of the 2003 Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s Land Heritage Award for her work as campaign co-chair for the Kennebec Highlands land acquisition project, which secured 6000 acres of land in central Maine.

Representative Eberle lives with her husband, Brett, in South Portland. They have 3 grown children.
