About
Rep. Martin
Representative James Martin is serving his first term in the House of Representatives
and is a member of the Business Research and Economic Development Committee.
A Maine resident since 1984, Rep. Martin graduated from the University
of Maine where he received his BA in Social Work. In this capacity, he worked
as a child protective casework for the Department of Human Services in Penobscot
County. Martin has been actively involved in the Bangor community for more
than 20 years. He has tutored literacy students, college freshmen, and high
school students. He worked on the School Supply Drive for Hurricane Katrina
victims, with Outright Bangor in program development, and as a mentor to
GLBT youth.
In 1995, he started a web development and marketing business and
has been working in this technology field ever since. Today, he works as
a consultant to businesses and organizations seeking to effectively utilize
web technologies to enhance profitability and efficiency. As a legislator,
he has a strong desire to work on policies to enhance clean, renewable energy
capacity in Maine and hopes to work on the BRED committee to advance energy
as key component of economic development in Maine.
For the past 12 years, Jim has lived in Orono with his partner,
Scott.
