Rep. Harlow
Representative Charlie Harlow is serving his third term in the
House of Representatives. He serves on the Transportation Committee.
Representative Harlow was a member of the Portland City Council
for 9 years and was also Mayor. During his term as Mayor, professional
baseball was reintroduced to Portland and the Equal Rights Act
was affirmed. He has been a Registered Maine Guide and has been
a teacher for 39 years. He retired three years ago after having
taught at Cheverus for 32 years. He has also been a teacher at
Wells High School, Mexico High School, and Mt Blue High School.
Representative Harlow graduated from the University of Maine
where he received a BS and a Master’s Degree. He was a
member of the University of Maine Football team, having been
coached by the legendary Harold Westerman and Walter Abbott.
Charlie is a lifelong resident of Maine. He is married to Sylvia
and has 2 daughters. His particular interest is in helping the
elderly to maintain a standard of living they expected when they
retired by examining property taxes, and reaching property tax
equality statewide. He is dedicated to encouraging young people
to attend college and take on other challenging entrepreneurial
goals. He is also concerned for families of ill children and
wants to guarantee that the state can offer them as much help
as possible.
