About Rep. Carey

Rep. Mike Carey is serving his fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives and is a member of the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee. He has served as the House Democratic lead member on the Joint Standing Committee on Veterans and Legal Affairs, on the Transportation Committee, the Joint Select Committee on Regulatory Fairness and Reform and the Joint Select Committee on Maine's Energy Future.

Mike and his wife live with their 2-year-old daughter in Lewiston. Mike is nearing completion of his studies at the University of  Maine School of Law. He serves on the board of directors of Community Concepts. He pursues economic development through historic renovation and affordable housing. He serves on the board of AVESTA Housing, the largest housing developer in Maine. He worked for a number of years for a private housing developer, co-chaired a City of Lewiston task force that considered redevelopment options for a mill building of over 400,000 square feet and was an active board member of Androscoggin County Habitat for Humanity.

Mike grew up in Leeds, Maine, and earned a bachelor’s degree at Dartmouth College, where he was a member of the varsity Nordic ski team.
