About
Rep. Haskell
Rep. Anne Haskell of Portland returns to the Legislature after
a twelve-year hiatus, previously serving three terms from 1988
to 1994 as a representative for Gorham.
Rep. Haskell graduated from Deering High School, and she attended
the University of Southern Maine while working and raising a
family in Gorham. She also served on various boards and as a
town councilor. Her work experience consists of financial and
administrative expertise for a variety of businesses, including
her own small business.
During Gov. King’s administration, she worked as the director
of appointments to boards and commissions. Following her government
service, she was the chief operating officer for the Maine International
Trade Center. Most recently, she was the communications manager
for the Finance Authority of Maine, working with the Legislature
to provide innovative financial solutions in programs FAME offers
to businesses and institutions of higher education.
During her previous service in the Legislature, Rep. Haskell
was a member of the State and Local Government Committee, the
Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee, and House chair of the
Committee on Corrections (now Criminal Justice and Public Safety).
Active in women’s issues, she was the prime sponsor of
the first sex offender registration in Maine.
Now back in the house she grew up in – on Higgins Street
in Portland – Rep. Haskell remains active in her community
and currently serves as a member of the Deering Center Neighborhood
Association, a deacon at Central Square Baptist Church, and vice
chairman of the Board of Directors of Gorham Savings Bank.
She and her husband, Lou, enjoy visiting their summer camp at
Panther Pond in Raymond, spending time with their grandchildren,
and participating in an active lifestyle that includes hunting,
fishing and dancing to great country music.
