About Rep. Haskell

Rep. Haskell is serving her second term from Portland in the House of Representatives, having previously served three terms from 1988 to 1994 as a Representative from Gorham. She is the House Chair of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee.

During the 123rd Legislature, Rep. Haskell served on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee and the Labor Committee. As District #117 Representative, she stood up for Portland’s working waterfront, sponsored bills to enhance screening for breast cancer, improve housing security deposit options for low income Mainers, and helped to make unemployment compensation fair for seniors.

Now back in the house she grew up in, on Higgins Street in Portland, Rep. Haskell remains active in her community and currently serves as a member of the Deering Center Neighborhood Association, a deacon at Central Square Baptist Church, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gorham Savings Bank, and a member of the Board of the Peoples Regional Opportunity Program (PROP).

She and her husband, Lou, enjoy visiting their summer camp, spending time with their grandchildren, and participating in an active lifestyle. Rep. Haskell keeps in touch with her constituents through her informative monthly TV program, Haskell From the House.
