Rep. Casavant
Rep. Casavant is serving his second term in the Legislature
and is a member of the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee.
After graduating from Biddeford High School, Casavant went on
to earn his bachelor’s degree at the University of Maine
at Orono, where he majored in Psychology. He returned to Biddeford
High School shortly after to take a position as a teacher at
his alma mater. Casavant has taught there for over 30 years,
and teaches American Studies, 20th Century World History (Global
Studies), and Psychology. In 2004, he completed his master’s
degree in American and New England Studies at the University
of Southern Maine.
Casavant served as a Biddeford City Councilman from 1976 to 1992,
and served four terms as council President. He coached ice hockey
at Biddeford High School for eight years, is a member of the
Friends of the University of New England, is a member of St.
Jean de Baptiste de Bienfaisance, and coordinates a yearly student
exchange with St. Georges, Quebec. He enjoys traveling, playing
hockey, and reading.
Rep. Casavant lives in Biddeford with his fiancée Patti
Jalbert.
