ROCKLAND – People interested in exploring the basics of starting up their own business are invited to a free informational workshop at the Rockland CareerCenter, 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, March 17.
Maine Small Business Development Center Director and Business Counselor David Hill will describe the keys to successful business startup and management, focusing on the business plan:
- What is it?
- Why do you need one?
- What can it do for you?
There is no cost for this workshop, but people planning to attend should register by calling the CareerCenter at 596-2600 (Select Phone System Option #1), or by going to the CareerCenter in person at 91 Camden St., Suite 201, Rockland. Please register early as there is a 12-seat limit.
Rockland CareerCenter is part of the Maine Department of Labor. In collaboration with its non-profit partners, it offers a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade their skills and to help employers to find qualified workers.
Each of the 12 statewide CareerCenters provides public-access computer workstations equipped with Microsoft Office software. In addition we provide Internet access for job search, and O-Net software for individual skills assessment. Employers can list their open positions on the Maine Job Bank and take advantage of our on-line matching system which identifies and refers job candidates. All CareerCenter services are provided free of charge to employers and job-seeking customers.
