RE:                   Assessment Development Institute for Career Preparation, Modern and Classical Languages, and Visual and Performing Arts

  

 

Please share this letter with Assistant Superintendents, Curriculum Coordinators, Principals, and Teachers in your school district.

 

We are pleased to announce that the Department will conduct an Assessment Development Institute in Career Preparation, Modern and Classical Languages, and Visual and Performing Arts on August 9-12, 2004.  Participants will include members of the State Advisory Committees for these three content areas as well as other educators throughout Maine.  In addition to a certificate of contact hours and reimbursement of travel expenses, each participant will receive a $300 stipend upon the completion of assigned responsibilities.

It will be particularly important for the assessment development institute to have statewide representation reflecting the full diversity of size and type of Maine school systems.  Please consider nominating one or more educators for consideration by the Commissioner for participation in this event.  Please submit completed nomination forms (web link below) by May 24, 2004 to Jennifer Pooler via fax (624-6821) or e-mail (jennifer.pooler@maine.gov).

As a result of this assessment development institute, we anticipate high quality products that can be used by school districts in their local assessment systems.  We thank you for your assistance and support in this important work.
