PROCESSES FOR REAP FUNDING
1.
Small,
Rural School Achievement Program (CFDA# 84.358A)
ALLOCATION FORMULA: $20,000 PLUS the number of students in average daily attendance (ADA) above 50, multiplied by $100 (UP TO a maximum amount of $60,000) MINUS the sum of the allocations in the fiscal year 2001 for: Title II- Eisenhower Program; Title IV- Safe and Drug Free Schools; Title VI- Innovative Programs; and Class-Size Reduction Program. In addition, this amount could be ratably reduced or increased depending upon the amount appropriated for the program by Congress and the amounts to which districts are entitled.
APPLICATION PROCESS: To obtain funds under this program, eligible
LEAs must submit an application directly to the U.S. Department of
Education. The website below has the

LEAs are required to apply electronically,
through the Federal Department's electronic application website. http://e-grants.ed.gov/egPackages.asp?APP=EA
The application form is very short, and asks
mostly for identifying information. However, applicants will also need to have
the following information on hand to complete the application:
· Your LEA D-U-N-S number. (If the LEA does not have a D-U-N-S Number, it can obtain a number by calling 1-800-333-0505 or by completing a D-U-N-S Number Request Form. The form can be obtained via the Internet at the following URL: http://www.dnb.com)

Your LEA Tax
Identification Number (T-I-N).
·
Your LEA
Identification Number in the National Center for Education Statistics' (NCES)
Common Core of Data (known as the NCES LEA ID), listed on the attached table.

PLEASE
NOTE: The U.S. Department of Education will publish a closing date notice
for this program, as the statute requires them to make allocations by July 1st.
Their tentative closing date is June 6, but they will need to adjust it
depending on how quickly the verification process proceeds for all States. Eligible LEAs should apply as soon as possible
once the final eligibility list for Maine has been posted.
2.
Rural
and Low-Income School Program (CFDA# 84.358B)
ALLOCATION: Each State will receive an amount equal to its share of the total number of students in ADA in all eligible districts nationally. Maine then plans to award the funds by a formula based on ADA.
APPLICATION PROCESS: The Rural and Low-Income School Program is a
State-administered formula program. We
anticipate the following districts will be eligible (Caribou, Waterville, SAD
03 Unity, SAD 37 Harrington, SAD 43 Mexico, SAD 67 Lincoln, SAD 70 Hodgdon, and
SAD 74 North Anson).
The State of Maine will send out applications
for funds under this program after our State Plan for “No Child Left Behind”
(NCLB) has been approved.
