Brief Synopsis:  Trooper Pyburn responded to assist the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office with a motor vehicle pursuit on Bolsters Mills Road, in the town of Otisfield. Deputies had attempted to stop Zachary Mercier, after making contact with him at a gas station Raymond. Mercier was known to have two active warrants and was believed to be under the influence of narcotics. Trooper Pyburn coordinated with other responding units, deploying a spike mat south of the Bolsters Mills General Store. Mercier struck the mat at approximately 80mph, deflating three tires. A short distance later, he failed to negotiate a tight turn, striking the Bolsters Mills General Store. Mercier attempted to flee on foot, but Trooper Pyburn and the Deputies were able to take him into custody after a brief struggle, during which, a Taser was deployed. Mercier was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital, and is being charged with criminal speed, eluding an officer, operating after suspension, VCR, and failure to submit to arrest.

Brief Synopsis: Sgt. Hanson was flagged down by a citizen who reported an unknown subject had pulled into his driveway and while turning around got stuck and he appeared intoxicated.  The 56yr old male operator from New York was found to be heavily intoxicated and was arrested for OUI.  The subject refused an intox and was transported to the jail.

Brief Synopsis:  Tr. Flanagan stopped a vehicle for numerous traffic violations just off I-295 in Portland.  During the course of his investigation, Tr. Flanagan discovered that the passenger was providing numerous false names and dates of birth.  While attempting to identify this subject, he took off on foot and ran down Washington Avenue toward Congress Street.  Tr. Flanagan chased the subject on foot and apprehended him after running through an alley way, several yards and over a fence.  The male subject was identified and transported to the Cumberland County Jail where he was charged with Failure to provided correct name and date of birth (Class E), Failing to submit to arrest/detention (Class E) and Trafficking in prison contraband (Class C).

Brief Synopsis:  Tr. Flanagan received information from Mass State Police that a vehicle bearing Maine plates was spotted in a known drug neighborhood and was possibly headed back to the Bowdoinham area.  Tr. Flanagan stopped this vehicle just off I-295 in Portland shortly after and made contact with the two males subjects of Bowdoinham.  After interviewing the subjects and conducting an investigation, he seized the vehicle and brought the subjects down to the Troop G barracks.  A search warrant for the vehicle and subjects was conducted.  Tr. Flanagan and Tr. Wing found roughly 44 grams of Heroin and 11 grams of Cocaine on the two subjects.  A subsequent search of the vehicle was conducted the following day where Troopers found more heroin and cocaine, along with a loaded handgun. The subjects were charged with Aggravated Trafficking Schedule W drugs (Class B). Tr. Wing, Det. Royle and Cpl. Russell assisted in the investigation.

Brief Synopsis:  Cpl. Hink responded to two property damage crashes and one personal injury crash involving state DOT sand trucks between 1/15/2020 – 1/16/2020.  On 1/16/2020, Cpl. Hink was called out to a crash on 302 in Fryeburg involving at DOT sand truck where a vehicle, traveling too fast for conditions, failed to maintain their vehicle and rear-ended the sand truck.  As a result, the female passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle.  She was transported to Bridgton Hospital with a broken ankle, injured shoulder and lacerations to her head.  Neither the male operator or female passenger were wearing seatbelts.  In all three crashes, it did not appear to be the fault of the DOT operator.  All three DOT trucks suffered minor damage.

Brief Synopsis:  Tr. James stopped Andrew Albrecht (42) of Harpswell on I295 in Cumberland for an expired registration. It was determined Albrecht was operating HO Revoked and had a warrant out of Sagadahoc County and Alabama. He was charged accordingly and brought to jail for the local warrant and as a fugitive from justice.

Brief Synopsis: On 1/20/2020, Tr. Willard stopped a vehicle on Route 126 in Sabattus for multiple defects.  The passenger of the truck, Nicholas Mackenzie (38) of Chelsea was arrest on two warrants.

Brief Synopsis: On 1/23/2020, Tr. Willard stopped a vehicle on Route 136 in Durham for following to close. The operator, Darrell Parker (30) was charged for OAS.

Brief Synopsis: On 1/23/2020, Tr. Willard stopped a vehicle for a vehicle defect on Route 126 in Wales.  The operator Rylee County (22) was charged for OAS.

Brief Synopsis:      While monitoring traffic in Durham, Trooper Phillips came across a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was eventually stopped for a traffic violation in Lisbon. The operator was identified and currently suspended for OUI and Driving to Endanger. Trooper Phillips arrested the suspect and towed his vehicle from the scene.

Brief Synopsis:      While monitoring traffic in Auburn, Trooper Phillips initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an expired registration greater than 150 days. After making contact with the driver and running the registration, it was determined that the registration was falsely attached. Trooper Phillips issued a summons to the driver.

Brief Synopsis:      While monitoring traffic in New Gloucester, Trooper Phillips located a vehicle traveling at 25 MPH greater than the posted speed limit. Trooper Phillips was able to stop the vehicle which was at this time in Auburn. After making contact with the driver it was determined that they were operating after suspension. The operator was issued a summons and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
