Figure 7. This photo shows a view of the sonar lab on the U.S. EPA Ocean Survey Vessel Bold. The side-scan sonar towfish is remotely controlled from the lab. Using a joy stick, the towfish can be raised and lowered to optimal distances above the sea floor. Sonar data is streamed into the lab in real time to computer monitors.
