Maine's Changing Beaches: Priorities for Coastal Property Owners

Presenters:

  • Robert Almeder, Coastal Property Owner, (Member of SOS Board of Directors and MBC)
  • Parker Dwelly, Coastal Property Owner, (Member of SOS Board of Directors)
  • Carol Wood, Director, Kennebunkport Parks and Recreation Department

Each Presenter on the panel will talk briefly about the concerns and priorities of coastal property owners in the light of predicted increase in general use, predicted sea level changes, and access problems at Maine beaches. The major focus will be on issues of safety, general access problems for various recreational purposes, property rights of coastal property owners, parking, and the potential for additional regulatory control in the light of climate change predictions and an increasing demand for access for tourists.

Thereafter, the audience will be invited to express other concerns not discussed, offer solutions to problems raised, criticize or ask questions.
