Sue Baker, Maine Floodplain Management Program

Sue Baker joined the staff of the Maine Floodplain Management Program (MFMP) in January, 1995 and became the State Coordinator for the National Flood Insurance Program a year ago. Sue’s primary responsibilities are to coordinate and oversee the Program’s annual work agreement with FEMA. The MFMP provides technical assistance to community officials and other professionals and assists communities with ordinance updates and map conversions. Sue, along with other Program staff, participates in preparing and presenting at floodplain management training workshops throughout the state. She also serves as the lead on completing interagency environmental reviews on projects that have associated floodplain issues and are being permitted through other state agencies and/or are being awarded grants or funds that have retained any federal identity, to assure compliance with the Federal Floodplain Executive Order 11988. Sue became a nationally exam Certified Floodplain Manager in November of 2000.
