Figure 4. Very thickly bedded sandstone in the middle of the falls. Beds dip steeply from upper left to lower right and some are 3 meters or more thick. The sandstone layers have regular joints oriented perpendicular to the bedding direction and promote the breaking away of very large blocks which litter the falls. Note people on the far side for scale.
