Figure 3. Typical bedding characteristics. Schist beds of 5-10 centimeters thickness separate several quartzite beds of 3-5 centimeters thickness. The schist beds contain some thin silt-rich layers. The thicker quartzite beds show grading from sharp bases (toward bottom of photo) to more mica-rich tops. Field of view is 1 meter top to bottom.
