Spirits

Maine is one of 18 jurisdictions that regulates spirits within its borders. By controlling this product, the Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations (BABLO) is the only entity that may bring liquor into the state.

Our mission is to effectively regulate the spirits industry to ensure responsible business practices and create a favorable economic climate while prohibiting sales to minors.

Starting on December 1, 2024, and for the next 10 years, the Bureau has contracted with Pine State Spirits to provide administration, warehousing, distribution, and trade marketing for the Maine spirits business.

The listing and pricing of distilled spirits are determined by the Bureau with assistance of the Liquor and Lottery Commission.
