Citizen Preparedness

It's often asked what steps the public should take to be prepared for a terrorist attack.

It is probable that Maine is less likely than other parts of the country to suffer a direct attack from a foreign terrorist. Unfortunately, however, frightening and violent things happen even here in Maine.

But a plan to deal with terrorism is basically the same as a plan to deal with any emergency. We invite you to visit Maine Prepares to learn about building a family emergency plan.

We also have a special article about Terrorism Preparedness that we hope will be helpful to you.

And remember, as you go through your day and notice something in your neighborhood or in your workplace that seems not quite right, be sure to notify authorities. You may help catch a vandal and not a terrorist, but you've helped out your community.

Please visit the Maine Information and Analysis Center to learn more about your role in preventing terrorism.
