Distributed Generation Procurement

Docket No. 2021-00108

On July 1, 2021, the Legislature enacted An Act to Amend State Laws Relating to Net Energy Billing and the Procurement of Distributed Generation, P.L. 2021, Chapter 390. This Legislation amended section 3482(1) of Title 35-A to provide that the Commission “may not procure distributed generation resources in the shared distributed generation and commercial or institutional distributed generation market segments using the targets and procurement methods described in this chapter.”

In light of this legislation, the Commission suspends the Procurement Announcement (See Docket Number 2021-00108 no. 3).

Pursuant to An Act To Promote Solar Energy Projects and Distributed Generation Resources in Maine. P.L. 2019, Chapter 478 and Chapter 312 of the Commission’s rules, the Maine Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) issues a Procurement Announcement related to the procurement of the output from distributed generation resources in the State of Maine.

At this point, because of pending action by the Maine State Legislature, the Commission is not able to establish a schedule for the procurement or specify the requirements that must be met by bidders or projects interested in submitting proposals.  The Procurement Announcement will be supplemented as appropriate.
